June 04, 2016

With the increase in shootings in schools and colleges, some special security solutions are being considered to make campuses safer. One among them that is audio analytic software, especially for shoot and aggression detection that can be matched with recording.

A company which recently released such a solution for campus security, the software detects most firearms, it accurately identifies the sound and sends out an immediate notification to police and first responders via the video management system or any another source.

Depending on the FBI’s "Active Shooter Events  from 2000 to 2012" study, which reviewed 51 incidents, the average police response time was 3 minutes. This is pretty fast, but much damage can still be handed in that time. In fact, 60 percent of incidents end before police arrive, from the FBI’s "A Study of Active Shooter Incidents in the United States Between 2000 and 2013."

That in precarious situations where seconds matter, the gunshot detection technology can cut back response time. First responses need as much accurate information as they can get to analyze the state and respond appropriately.
